Check 5 | Transition Bez/Sec | Cantonal school/BMS
For 18 years, Lern-Forum has been offering qualified, efficient and targeted courses. The reasons for poor results in the entrance examinations are mostly technical difficulties, e.g. missing basics and gaps in knowledge that have grown over time, or simply problems of understanding. We have focused our teaching on solving these problems and offer a well thought-out concept of didactic and technical courses.
We also have sufficient practice material, consisting of old exams that are adapted to the Aargau curriculum.
- Primar-Bez.
- Bez.-Gymnasium
- Sek.-IMS/FMS/WMS
- BMS
From primary to Bezirksschule
The most important changes:
- There is no longer an entrance exam.
- Acceptance is determined solely by the recommendation process.
- The performance evaluation is heavily influenced by the new Check-Tests.
- Consistent good performance is key in the time before the evaluations.
- It is important to enter Bezirksschule if you want to attend Gymnasium. It is almost impossible to get into Gymnasium from the regular secondary school.
From Bezirksschule to Kantonsschule / Gymnasium
The most important changes:
- There is no longer a final exam for the Bezirksschule.
- Acceptance is based entirely on school marks.
- Those who do not have the necessary marks can take an entrance exam. However, this exam cannot be taken until at least 1 year after primary school. The exception is BMS. For BMS, you can take the entrance exam during your last year of primary school, regardless of school marks.
- Performance in the following subjects is considered for exam-free entrance: maths, German, French, English, history, geography, physics, chemistry, art/music/PE. The core subjects German and maths count double, and a mark of at least 4.0 is necessary in both. In the subject group art/music/PE, the two subjects with the highest marks each count once.
From secondary school to FMS/IMS/WMS
The most important changes:
- Secondary students in their final year with average marks of at least 5.3 may enter IMS, FMS or WMS without an exam. Those who achieve the necessary marks on their intermediate report (Zwischenzeugnis) may enter any of these schools provisionally on a probationary period of one year. Wer den nötigen Notenschnitt im Zwischenzeugnis erreicht, wird provisorisch (mit einer Probezeit von einem Jahr) an die entsprechende Mittelschule zugelassen. An average of 5.3 on the final report results in definite acceptance, regardless of the marks on the intermediate report.
- Secondary students with an average of 5.3 either on the intermediate report or the final report are definitely accepted to vocational school (Berufsschule or BMS) without an exam.
- Those who do not have the necessary marks can take an entrance exam. However, this exam cannot be taken until at least 1 year after primary school. The exception is BMS. For BMS, you can take the entrance exam in your last year of primary school, regardless of marks.
- Acceptance is based solely on school marks.

- Students in their final year of Bezirksschule who have an average of at least 4.4, either in their intermediate or final report, may enter vocational school without the exam. In both cases, entry is guaranteed.
