Preparation for and help during the probationary period

Courses begin after the spring holiday

They've passed the entrance exam; now the probationary period begins.

Independent learners with the ability to focus and study have little trouble passing the probationary period.

For other students, this is when the stress begins. They find the subject teacher system difficult and are unable to keep up with the workload. They are now surrounded only by other top students.

For students in long Gymnasiums and secondary schools, we offer remedial courses in Latin, French, Mathematics and English during the autumn holiday.

Latin

Latin is an required subject in long-track Gymnasium and takes up a lot of study time. Many students feel insecure after getting low grades in this subject and consequently start questioning their aptitude for the school. When it comes to Latin, determination is important as well as trying to enjoy historical connections and old languages.

The focus of our autumn holiday course is on repetition and in-depth study of grammar and vocabulary so that students can understand the basic structure of the language.

Latin Courses

French

Low grades in French? This is mainly due to a lack of joy in the French language as well as wrong study techniques. It isn't enough to bone up on vocabulary; students must understand sentence structure as well as grammar. It's important that grades improve after the holidays and a French course is the best way to attain better grades.

Mathematics

Gymnasium-level maths isn't easy for everyone. Students start learning set theory, number systems, terms and fractions. This is very much beyond the arithmetic learnt in primary school. Both in secondary and in Gymnasium, students keep theory notebooks and deepen their knowledge with exercise sheets—often without a textbook.

We focus on repetition and further practice of additional math problems.

English

The English language is more important than ever before. Students start learning English in their second year of primary, so English is now included from the first year of long-track Gymnasium.

As students now learn 3 foreign languages simultaneously, we have started English lessons during the probationary period. We focus on repetition and strengthening grammar skills.

Mathematics

Mathematics is a key subject in Gymnasium that opens the door to the natural sciences. A foundation in basic mathematical concepts is essential.

French

French continues to be a major world language, and it is a national language here in Switzerland. This is why French is a major subject at school.

We study with the most modern teaching materials. The exercises are based carefully on the Envol system (Cours intensif).

English

English is seeping more and more into our daily language, but it isn't the same as the English learnt at school.

It is important to learn English properly.
