Incoming marks do not currently count towards the entrance exams (Gymnasium, business school, IT school).
The Multicheck for IT specialists is required for the IMS entrance exam.
IMS – Between Apprenticeship and Gymnasium
In their 3rd year of secondary school, students start to think about their professional future. Usually they decide between an apprenticeship and transferring to Gymnasium. IT school is another alternative. It has no tuition fees.
IT School (IMS) is a 4-year training course students can complete after their 3rd year at secondary A. In addition to the certificate of proficiency as an IT specialist commonly given after the completion of an apprenticeship, students who complete this training receive a business (not technical) vocational Matura as well.

Entrance Exam to IT School (IMS) in Autumn ‘19
All entrance exams to secondary level schools (secondary level II, HMS, FMS, BMS) take place in spring after the holidays.
The exam to IT school (IMS) will be held in autumn on 28th and 29th Oct., 2019.
This allows students to know whether they were accepted. In case of an insufficient exam result, students still have enough time to look for an apprenticeship along with vocational school (BMS).
Reviewing the material will benefit students when they take the BMS entrance exam as well.
Incoming marks will count for entrance exams again (Gymnasium, FMS, IT school) beginning this year (exam 2019 - school year 2020). French will no longer be tested.
What is IMS (IT School)?
IMS takes 3 years to complete, followed by a 1-year company internship.
After successful completion, students receive both a certificate of proficiency and their vocational Matura.
These credentials are highly useful since students can find a job based on their professional experience, can transfer to a technical college without having to take an entrance exam or can study at university after the Passarelle (1 additional year).
