Our intensive courses and themed courses combine well with the semester prep courses. Different exercises are used in each course. This way, your child will solidify their knowledge and develop confidence and a routine for solving exam problems.

We offer intensive courses during the autumn and winter holidays.

These courses have been especially popular for many years. Our basic course during the autumn holiday offers students a comprehensive review for all levels, making students feel confident about the material and helping them rediscover their enjoyment of learning. Our winter (sports) holiday courses add the final touch before the entrance exam.

Autumn holiday: basic course (only 1 week can be booked)

Winter (sports) holiday: exam training (both weeks can be booked - different course folders)

Long-track Gymnasium prep: German and maths

During the holidays, students are well-rested and more receptive. We practice the exam material, solve exams from previous years, expand vocabulary and review German grammar. Students also write an essay each day.

Autumn holiday course:

Review and strengthening of the material, few exam problems (it is still too early for these) plus essay training (students write an essay each day)

Winter (sport) holiday course:

Brief review of the entire material plus practice problems at a quick pace

In addition, there are about 3 hours of homework per day. Students prepare for the next day (solving exam problems) while also reviewing the material covered in the lessons.

(Students write an essay each day during the winter holidays as well).

Maths - German - French

For over 14 years, we have been offering prep courses for the Gymnasium entrance exam during the winter and spring holidays. We review the material with exams from previous years and parallel practice problems.

We practise the three exam subjects mathematics, French and German, with the emphasis primarily being on mathematics and French.
Students usually study for the German portion of the exam at home. We provide a short review of German grammar.

We thoroughly practise French text comprehension, correctly answering text-related questions as well as text production (rédaction approx. 50 words). We also review formal French grammar.
However, the course week is not long enough to fill large knowledge gaps.

In order for students to benefit from the course as much as possible and to ensure a stimulating learning environment, students must complete their homework.

Vocational School - BMS

We offer special preparatory courses for the entrance exam to BMS (vocational school) in Zürich. The three-hour course consists of a 1.5-hour review of the entire maths material and a 1.5-hour language review, during which German, French and English are reviewed intensively.

Because the BMS entrance exam was merged in 2015 and students of all disciplines now take the same exam, we completely revised our courses and now offer a single course for all students that matches to the new exam format.

Admission Requirements of Canton Schools ZH

Long-track Gymnasium

The entrance exam consists of several parts:

  1. Composing a text (60 minutes)
  2. Text and speech comprehension (45 minutes)
  3. Mathematics (arithmetic, 60 minutes)

If overall school marks are factored into the admission decision, then students have passed the entrance exam as long as they have an average of 4.5. To determine the average, the following grades are all weighted equally:

  1. Incoming marks(=overall school marks) "German"
  2. Incoming marks(=overall school marks) "Mathematics"
  3. Exam result "German"
(1/2 composing a text, 1/2 text and speech comprehension)
  4. Exam result "Mathematics"

Oral entrance exams are no longer required.

Exam result = average between the incoming marks and exam score
Exam result ≥ 4.5: admission
Exam result < 4.5: rejection

Exam requirements for private school (without incoming marks):
Exam result = exam grade
Exam result ≥ 4.00: admission
Exam result < 4.00: rejection

Gymnasium entrance exam date: 10th/11th March 2020
